JOB SUMMARY: This position reports directly to the CFO and will be accountable for the direction, development and oversight of the corporate accounting team. This position leads company-wide accounting initiatives and supports on-going process improvement. Provides CFO with insightful financial reporting and analysis to support good business decision making. Critical for success are the abilities to provide leadership on financial accounting and reporting matters, and drive innovation and process change across the organization.

  • Supervise the Corporate Accounting Team. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training and developing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; providing feedback; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Directly supervise 5-6 employees.
  • Collaborate with CFO and management team to coordinate and optimize efforts to achieve Accounting Department objectives.
  • Provide technical accounting and financial reporting leadership for all Jay Dee owned entities. Work closely with the CFO and Project Management on all corporate accounting and financial reporting matters.
  • Align and coordinate the Corporate Accounting team into an efficient and effective working group. Develop, implement and maintain “best in class” support to deliver high and consistent service levels to internal and external customers.
  • Identify and leverage finance and accounting best practices across the organization to control and reduce costs and standardize reporting. Maintain the accuracy and integrity of corporate financials.
  • Maintain open communication with project management and departmental leads to ensure coordination of financial needs. Align staff to support and execute on project management and departmental needs.
  • Research, develop and implement internal controls.
  • Lead the monthly closing and consolidation process, account reconciliations, and related analysis and reporting.
  • Work with IT to identify and implement tools to drive better communication, process management and reporting tools.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting; and minimum 10 years of progressive accounting experience; construction experience is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others to follow Company Accounting policies and procedures.
  • Strong critical thinking, decision making/problem solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects and complete work to articulated deadlines based on company needs.
  • Proficiency with financial systems software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, time management and organizational skills.
